Who Can be a Participants

Ability Outings Pittsburgh is designed to support individuals over the age of 18 with physical and intellectual disabilities. We are here to provide assistance in personal care, behavior management, basic medical needs, involvement in activities, and more. 

Our goal is to provide access to outings for as many individuals as possible but in order to be eligible you must be medically stable and willing to remain in a small group in public. 

Including But Not Limited to

Physical Disabilities

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Spina Bifida
  • TBI
  • Spinal Cord Injury
  • Epilepsy
  • Etc

Intellectual Disabilites

  • Autism
  • Down Syndrome
  • Fragile X Syndrome
  • Prader-Willi Syndrome
  • FASD
  • Etc.

Sensory Impairment

  • Deaf
  • Blind
  • Dual Sensory Impairment (deaf/blind)

Requirements for Participants

  • Have a physical or intellectual disability
  • 18 years old or older
  • Medically Stable
  • Willing to remain in a small group in public
  • Can Follow Basic Instructions

Our goal is to support as many individuals as possible but these requirements are necessary due to the places being visited and to ensure the other travelers experiences are not impacted.

Pricing

Pricing is based on the activity. All activities included…

  • Transportation if needed (if in the main Pittsburgh Area) at this time we are unable to provide transportation to individuals in power wheelchairs or chairs that cannot fold into the back of the car (travelers can still attend but would need to have transportation)we hope to offer wheelchair accessible transportation in the future
  • Entrance fees
  • Assistance from volunteers and staff
  • Lunch if listed with activity

We are working to connect with other businesses to get discounted pricing to ensure it is affordable for as many people as possible.

We also use donations to create scholarships so if pricing is a concern please reach out and we will do our best to make sure your traveler can still attend.

How to Sign Up for a Trip

Once we have all of the required information you will be able to sign up for your first trip. To sign up for a trip please fill out the form below.

You will then receive a confirmation email with an invoice you can use for payment. Once payment is completed you will officially be registered for the trip. Payment is required in full at least 2 weeks before the trip. 

3-5 days before the trip you will receive an additional confirmation with finalized pickup time, and location as well as an itinerary of the day.
